TV geek is back in season

Yay, my shows are back from summer hiatus and yay for TiVO. Grey's Anatomy and LOST. I've also discovered a few promising new shows.

First, Grey's Anatomy...way to go! They were the number one show last week with over 28 million views. It even knocked off the powerhouse, CSI. After Grey's we tried to watch the JJ-produced show, Six Degrees. Bo-ring. Sorry, JJ. (BTW, He just produces that show, he didn't create it like he did with LOST, ALIAS and Felicity.)

Now HEROES was a good character/comic book show. A male nurse thinks he can fly, an artist can predict the future, an undestructable cheerleader and a creepy internet stripper/mom...I'm intrigued and want to watch more.

How I Met Your Mother...Do you like magic? YES!

Ugly Betty, a Good-hearted, coming of age dramedy...starring America Ferrer. Go, girl!

HOUSE: The guy is an ASS, but a good ASS.

Coming this week: LOST

Over the break, producers of the show created an online game with information on the fictious organization behind the experiments on the island, the Dharma Initiative. I'm not that much of a LOST geek to go into all of that, but I did find the complete transmission of the message on Youtube. Check it out and then tune into LOST on Wednesday night.

STRIKE!

Chant:
Everywhere we go.
Everywhere we go.
People want to know.
People want to know.
Who we are.
Who we are.
So we tell them.
So we tell them.
We are the nurses.
We are the nurses.
The mighty, mighty nurses.
The mighty, mighty nurses.

So I went to my first labor union rally/strike. I'd been to one strike out before in Oxnard when my mom and her co-workers went on strike and won. It was kinda funny to see my mom and the aunties picket. I know it's all serious stuff, but it was still weird to see them do it.

It was even more weird that I was now doing it. I'm still new and naive to all this labor union stuff but I thought I'd go to show some support. There I was with my picket sign in hand that read, "9000 UC RN's will be heard!" quietly repeating the words to the chants. It was one of the "What am I doing here?" kind of moments.

I don't know what will happen. I don't know if what we did made a difference. I'd like to hope we did, but there you go, my first nurse strike. It wasn't exactly like the Grey's Anatomy episode when the nurses threw food at Christina and Izzie for crosses the lines, but still an eventful morning.

Tequila and meatballs

It must have been a hell of a week for everyone. Rachey called out a drunk/drinking night last Friday night to try to get over it. She said she'd even take a shot of 151, but she wasn't the "winner" of the night. That title went to someone else.

Party at the Reyes'! Sounds by DJ Joe.

Earlier in the day, Cile, Ja and I ate at Fred 62. Yums! Cile then helped me load my car with my new bookcase from IKEA. Thanks for taking the day off!

Can you tell that James' glass is darker than Rachey's slightly lighter tequila shot? We did that trick to Sherwin alot in college. Remember that, Sherwin?

The winners of the night. You can't tell from the pictures, but James' hair kept getting bigger and bigger.

He was even drunk enough to let DJ Joe do this to him.

Hilarity! Ate Tin did her universal dance.

What are you afraid of?

I have these moments sometimes when I observe somethings and try to analyze them or put things in perspective the way I see things. I woke up this morning with some thoughts in my head (imagine that) and I thought I'd share. They're not directed toward anyone. I just think it can apply to any situation that may cause any kind of fear or anxiety in your life.
Don't be so scared.
Just do it.
I know it's terrifying.
But if you don't try, you won't accomplish anything.
You won't ever know.
You won't ever move forward.
Stuck.
You'll be stuck.
Just do it.
You may falter and fall a few times before it works.
That's part of the process.
It'll hurt when it doesn't work,
But you will succeed eventually.
And when you finally overcome,
It will feel so good.
Don't want to push you.
Don't want to make you run away.
Just want to encourage you to be what you're capable of.
You can do it.
So do it.

Don't Fall Asleep at the Wheel

My cousin, Matt, AKA my car stereo cousin was going home to Ojai after work and fell asleep at the wheel. He hit the wall on the right side of the freeway and skid to the left where he slammed into center divider.

Luckily, he's okay and only came away from it with a sprang ankle. In other accident news, my parents were on their way to visit him when they were rear ended by a guy who literally hit and ran on them. My dad got out to get he guy's driver's license when the guy left his car in the middle of the road and on foot, ran away. LOSER!

Moral of the story, driving can be dangerous. Be careful!
