Bebot: Gen.1 & Gen.2
Some things have changed and others haven't. That's what I came away with from my return visit to KABA.Before we went to the meeting, Pat and I stopped at South Coast Plaza. As we came up the escalator at Macy's we heard kids, lots of them and they were all doing the scream...pause...squeel...pause...scream some more thing. I'm thinking, What the hell? I thought it was some kind of fashion show or talent showcase the OC parents were putting their kiddos through. But Pat thought otherwise and we went to investigate. We came across a sign that said, "Hillary Duff Fragrance." Oh, God! We turned the corner to see...
Miss Hilary signing autographs and taking pictures with fans to promote her new fragrance line, with Love... Hilary Duff.
Oh, geez...while I hold back on some, as George would say...McVomit.
Moving on to the main event: Bebot-discussed, dissected and debated.
Pat and the crew of BEBOT were invited to discuss and premeire the music video to KABA. Joe, Riann, Fantone, JoeMaMa and I went to support. I don't know if anyone else felt this way, but being there felt a little bit like a strange dream or flashback. You know, the ones where you observe something, want to manipulate it but can't dreams? Anyway, the new board and members were welcoming and greeted us with an energy of excitement that was nice to see.
Much of their meeting format was the same. Others were different. Instead of having Joe have to tag or write on the chalkboard, their agenda was on powerpoint. They had a pretty good turn out for week 3. As Riann pointed out, we could look out into the crowd and pick out people there that reminded us of people from when we were in school...counterparts. One real counterpart we ran into was JP's little brother, (Sorry, buddy...don't know your name).
They concluded their meeting and introduced the crew of BEBOT.
Yay, for Pat! He was a "special guest."
We watched the making of the video, the behind the scenes stuff that included Pat's interview about his creative input and the process he went through to create the BBQ party and backyard family party scenes. Then we watched both versions of the video. BTW, if you haven't seen the video, I think you can check it out on AJ's website or Patricio's website.
Then...they brought up and read the OPEN LETTER.
I didn't know there was an open letter. I thought it was just going to be a fun event to showcase some talent and provide an outlet for those that may want to join the industry some day.
Oh, but this is KABA.
I guess there's always some kind of political undercurrent running beneath the surface of these things.
As Xavier, the TDB president of KABA read the letter, the energy in the room shifted. I thought, Oh, no. Here we go.
Blah, blah, blah...
Blah, blah, blah..
Blah, blah, blah...
So, Pat did a good job answering his questions. Good job, roommie!
That's all I have to say about that.
If you see Joe and Riann, tell them to tell you about their newest record shopping experience. I was laughing so hard, I felt a little light headed and even a little nauseous. Nice one.
